The Best Things To Do When Visiting Sathon In Bangkok

    If you are going to be travelling to Bangkok soon and you will be staying in the Sathon area of the city, there is plenty to see and do when you get there. Bangkok is a massive city, but if you have a few days to kill before going to the beach or elsewhere in Thailand, you can occupy yourself without having to travel to far around the city. Below are some of the highlights when staying in Sathon that will make for a magical stay.

    Lumphini Park

    If you are staying in a hotel near Saladang BTS station, you can enjoy the short walk to Lumphini Park, which is a green oasis in the suburban jungle of Bangkok. It is a popular place with both tourists and locals alike, and if you get there in the morning or early evening when it is not as warm, you will see plenty of people exercising. There is playing equipment for the kids, and you can also spot some wildlife with plenty of birds and water monitor lizards to observe as you wander around.

    The Robot Building

    Although you cannot go inside the building, the Robot Building on Sathorn Road is a famous landmark and was designed by architect Sumet Jumsai. Sumet said that he was inspired to create the structure when he observed a toy robot that his son was playing with when he was young. The 20 storey building can be seen from the BTS Sky Train, and you may also walk past it going back to your hotel if you have been to Lumphini Park.

    Rooftop Views Of The City

    If you are looking for spectacular views during your stay, then yu may wish to consider visiting The Roof @ 38, which is a rooftop bar in the Mode Sathorn Hotel. Although it is not good for rainy days or nights, when the weather is compliant it offers spectacular views of the skyline of the city.

    Go For A Ride Along The River

    The river is only a short distance from Sathorn, and one way to get around and see some of the sights is by boat. There are lots of boats going up and down the river all day and night, and a ride along the Chao Phraya will show you many more landmarks around the cist, such as the old Customs House, Wat Arun, and The Grand Palace, to name but a few.

    Another excellent place to visit when you are in the Sathorn area is Bangkok CityCity Gallery, which is a modern contemporary gallery. Here you will be able to see sculptures, painting, videos, and also live performances.
